FACT: All locks are not created equal and unfortunately you only receive the degree of security that you are willing to pay for

FACT: If you do not have a deadbolt lock installed on your door you are asking for trouble. Criminals know that Key-In-Knob locks are quickly and easily defeated. Install a quality deadbolt for peace of mind and help to keep your belongings safe and secure

Why Purchase From A Security Professional?
Sure, your local retailer like Home Hardware© or Home Depot© carry major lock brand names but most available through retailers like this are considered in the industry to be light to medium duty residential.

A professional locksmith can supply:
1) Heavy-duty residential and commercial grade lock sets that are not available through local retailers
2) 6 or 7 pin locksets. (more difficult to pick open - local retailers usually supply 5 pin lock sets)
3) Pick-proof lock pins. (difficult to pick open - usually not available through local retail outlets)
4) High Security locks that provide complete control of key distribution

Heavy-duty residential or commercial grade deadbolts, which are more difficult to defeat will have break and enter artists walking away from your door to seek-out much easier prey

About Weiser and Kwikset Smartkey Deadbolts And Handle Locks:
Although both Weiser and Kwikset do manufacture many great products, the Smartkey type lock is a design to avoid.

It is indeed an attractive feature to be able to rekey your locks yourself and if the deign were more reliable we would endorse it.

Unfortunately, each year we get many calls about these locks locking out the homeowner.

Being manufactured from cast metal instead of solid brass, (which most conventional locks are made from), and containing many small parts requiring thin areas of the cast metal, eventually the brittle cast metal breaks inside of the lock cylinder causing it to jam. At this point no key will operate the lock, not even the one that is supposed to. You are then locked out and will require the services of a trained professional locksmith to gain entry to your property. This usually results in the destruction of the lock to get your door open.

Our advice is to steer clear of these two lock brands. A better purchase, where the manufacturer does not use a SmartKey system would be Schlage, Dorex, LSDA, Defiant and Gatehouse to name a few. These are very reliable brands.
